Babylonian Tiles captured my interest with their first CD release, "Basking in the Sun at Midnight". From there, each album has shown further development of their unique sound. I like to think of it as a psych-goth version of Phil Spector's "wall of sound". Teknicolour Aftermath is a great album, with swirling, full-sounding organ, deep, thick 4/5(5).

Babylonian Tiles's sound is what makes it one of the best bands out there. The dark psychedelia behind Basking In the Sun At Midnight is a strange, wonderful marriage between the likes of the Doors or Pink Floyd, and the modern goth sound. The mythical, gypsy-faery sound of Babylonian Tiles is _the_ future of acid goth/5(2).

The instrumental sound of The Babylonian Tiles is a swirling, keyboard-heavy mix of psychedelia and goth rock, with occasional touches of blues and even a dash of soul. Over this complex stew floats the vocals of founder and band mastermind Bryna Golden, whose style has been compared to Indian and Asian music, but whose musical foundation is.

The Babylonian Tiles' first real album wasn't until when Basking in the Sun at Midnight was released by the influential but poorly distributed Nate Starkman & Son label. (It was re-released only a year later by the Saint Thomas label, because demand had far outstripped supply.
